A free year of Smart Scholars for editorial board members

You accepted a place on the editorial board of a journal we work with. For one year, Smart Scholars gives you three of its services, free of charge, for any journal you edit.

Normally ₹4,999

Journal Audit

Where the journal stands before it applies to an index: 121 criteria across identity, governance, ethics, access, technical and content — each pass, fix or missing, with the page we looked at, and a plain fix list.

Public, kept current

Journal Health Card

The journal's own public record of what it has achieved, read from the registers — a card the journal can send to an index assessor, a prospective author or a funder.

Your own papers

DOI and metadata check

Every DOI of your own papers, found from your ORCID iD, tested at doi.org and Crossref: whether it resolves, and what each record carries or lacks — references, abstract, ORCID iDs, affiliations, licence, funding.

Claim your year

We use these details only to confirm your place on the board and to deliver the year's services. Privacy

How it works

  1. Send the form with the official e-mail address your invitation went to.
  2. We find your acceptance under that address and mail a link to it. Press the button on the page it opens: your year starts, and with the journal's website named, so does the Journal Audit.
  3. The Health Card and the check of your papers follow, and we write to you by e-mail. If your acceptance needs a look by hand, we confirm by e-mail too.

Questions board members ask

Who can claim the year?

A scholar who accepted an invitation to the editorial board of a journal Smart Scholars works with. Give the official e-mail address the invitation went to: that is the address we find your acceptance under.

Which journal is it for?

Any one journal you edit — the journal of the board you joined, or another journal where you are an editor. Name it in the form with its website, or its ISSN.

What happens when I send the form?

We look for your acceptance under that address. When it is there, we mail a link to that address: your year starts when you press the button on the page it opens, so only the owner of the address can start it. With the journal's website named, the Journal Audit starts then, and the report waits in a Journal Audit account under the same address. The Health Card and the check of your papers follow by e-mail.

How do I read the audit report?

Sign in at journalevaluate.smartscholars.in with the e-mail address you gave. The first time, press "Forgot your password" to set one: the link goes to that address only, so only you can open the report.

What does it cost after the year?

Nothing renews by itself and nothing is charged. After the year each service is at its normal price — the Journal Audit is ₹4,999 per journal.

What do you keep from the form?

Your name, the e-mail address, the journal, its website or ISSN, and your ORCID iD — to confirm your place on the board and to deliver the year's services. Nothing is sold or shared.
